HOUSE prices in Clackmannanshire outgrew the Scottish average in the last year, new figures show.

The average property sale in Scotland increased by around £14,800 – or 7 per cent – between December 2021 and December 2022.

However, in the Wee County the prices grew by 10 per cent in the same time period.

Only four other areas in Scotland experienced higher growth than Clacks, analysis of the house price index shows.

The average price for a home in Scotland is now £225,520, though there are stark regional variations.

The City of Edinburgh local authority area continues to have the highest average price at £346,543, followed by East Lothian, East Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.

Inverclyde is now the the area with the lowest average of £143,898.

The Wee County jumped up two places and now has a higher average house sale than neighbouring Falkirk.

Over the 12 month period, the average house sale in Clacks rose from £174,191 to £191,577 – an increase of £17,386.

That increase was surely helped by the fact that six households in the area were sold for more than £750,000 in 2022.

House prices in Stirling remain relatively high, with the average now at £264,379.
