MORE young Wee County people will be able to attend important milestone events such as prom, thanks to a charity offering one-time wear outfits.

The good cause, Style Options, will be available at Sterling Mills in Tillicoultry throughout weekends in March, offering young people free and sustainable prom outfits.

With 121 private appointments available in that time, the charity is hoping to support those who are finding it difficult to gather the funds for the event, or would prefer a more sustainable approach.

Working Clacks mothers Natasha Paxford and Shona Smart are behind the idea, having been inspired by similar initiatives in the UK and Australia.

It all started with a conversation round a kitchen table last June and Style Options became a fully registered charity in December 2022 and was ready for the 2023 prom season.

Natasha, founder and trustee, said: “Things have been so tough for folks and they continue to get tougher, so we’re here to help.

“We are a sustainable organisation and our ethos is to enable re-use and recycling of formal clothing and accessories to avoid waste and landfill, whilst giving our young people the opportunity to experience choosing a stunning outfit for their prom.

“We’re accessible to everyone over the age of 16 who live in Clackmannanshire and who wants to go to prom 2023.

“Affinity Sterling Mills have really helped us with their kind offer of a shop to base our service in during March and we look forward to filling the remaining appointments over the next week or two.”

She also issued a nod of thanks to Sterling Furniture for providing furniture.

For those clearing the attic, Style Options is also accepting donations of formal wear, dress shoes and accessories with a station available at the outlet village during Saturdays and Sundays only in March.
