THREE Wee County organisations have received equipment used for Scotland's Census.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) has donated two mobile phones each to Clackmannanshire Women’s Aid and Clackmannanshire District Scouts.

Menstrie Community Action Group has also received two Chromebook laptop devices along with two phones, as part of the legacy of the 2022 census.

The devices were among those used by field officers, who visited more than 680,000 households across the country, along with handling 748,000 calls, 34,000 emails and 33,000 web chats.

Linda Sinclair, director of corporate services at NRS, said: “We are pleased to be able to donate this equipment to well deserving voluntary and charitable organisations, particularly at a time of rising costs for everyone.

“It is important that where we can, we support the reuse of equipment for wider benefit and a more sustainable impact.

“We received a huge number of applications and I am sure all those organisations receiving the equipment will make good use of it.”

Good causes from around Scotland were invited to bid for equipment with more than 550 applications received in total.

More than 180 charities received equipment in the end.
