TWO Wee County dancers have fulfilled their biggest dreams after winning first prize in a competition at Disneyland Paris.

Heather Breingan, 24, and Rebecca Watson, 23, performed in the ChoreoMagic show, held in the French capital, on Sunday, March 5.

After spending months choreographing their own routine, under the tutelage of their teacher Clarissa Anderson, the girls cruised to first place in the Disney Duo 14+ category.

Speaking to the Advertiser, the Alva dancers said they were thrilled to have come first place out of a handful of acts at the competition.

“We’re so proud of ourselves,” Heather said. “It was an overwhelming, surreal feeling when our names got called out.

“The whole moment was just incredible and we were glad to see our hard work pay off in the end. It was a perfect weekend, the whole thing was magical.

Rebecca said: “We were over the moon, we didn’t expect it at all. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we were so grateful to even just take part.

“We were so buzzing to come first out of all the other teams, it was a great experience from start to finish.”

ChoreoMagic, organised by Take Us 2 The Magic, instructs entrants to choreograph their own routine but insist it must incorporate Disney.

The girls prepared a routine to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from 1964’s Mary Poppins, which went on to be their winning performance.

Heather and Rebecca faced off against 22 other teams in their category from all across the world but managed to shine through to claim first prize.

On top of performing in the elite competition, the girls were given the opportunity to dance in the Disneyland parade alongside their dance teacher Clarissa and hundreds of other dancers.

“The girls were completely composed but I was so nervous!” Clarissa explained. “They went on stage and didn’t put a foot wrong.

“I was so proud and excited for them. I actually cried when they won, I just couldn’t believe it.

“It was good to see them achieve everything they wanted. This is something that they will never forget.”
