A SCHOOL nurturing Wee County children with additional support needs has earned the runner-up spot in a tough competition.

Clackmannanshire School Support Service earned second place in the Secondary Schools Award category at the ALBAS ceremony organised by Lantra Scotland.

Against tough competition, the school received a trophy at a Dunblane ceremony earlier in March.

It was the culmination of a year's effort from the School Eco Team and its dedicated learners, who undertook a multitude of different projects.

Of note was an initiative to build a series of large planters in an effort to grow vegetables on site, which were distributed to foodbanks and learners to use as ingredients in their own weekly soup.

The team were delighted to be recognised for all the work they and their learners carry out throughout the school year in a bid to increase sustainability and likelihood of a greener future.
