A YOUTH group in the Wee County is looking ahead to a busy Easter programme, including two peer-led events.

Connect, the Alloa youth group reducing social isolation, will be hosting three events, one each day from Thursday, April 6, as part of the holiday programme.

Highlights will include a youth-led Pride Walk and party from 4pm on Friday, April 7, as well as a mental health awareness and inclusion day on Saturday, April 8, from 11am.

Everyone will be welcome to the Pride Walk, which will take young people down to the picturesque Gartmorn Dam before a party at Connect's space in Unit 10, Carsebridge Court in the town.

Also youth-led, the mental health awareness and inclusion day will take the shape of a coffee morning with people encouraged to drop-in for a chat, to meet new people and to browse the stalls.

The good cause's usual youth night will also take place on Thursday, April 6, with young people from the area and beyond invited along as always.

The group has been keeping busy and members were full of excitement when they enjoyed their first of two sessions with renowned Wee County chef Billy Campbell.

On Friday, March 31, the retired professional who previously cooked for the likes of Bill Clinton, who has been serving up treats at St Mungo's Parish Church café, showed the young people how to cook fresh pasta.

And just last month, the group also enjoyed its very first residential trip to Dalguise.

Project leader Dave Crozier and staff took some 17 young people on the trip after many missed out on P7 school camps there due to Covid.
