A CLACKS filmmaker is preparing to see her Clacks-based play performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.

Glenna Morrison, from Alloa, has written and will be directing and producing her play titled Guffy, set in the Wee County.

The play focuses on three generations of women living in a house in Alloa and is described as an "allegorical tale of the state of our nation."

Glenna said her experience of living in the Wee County provided all the inspiration needed.

She told the Advertiser: "I moved to Alloa about 15 years ago and I come from a family of writers – my brother and my dad are both writers but I hadn't actually written anything myself.

"I started writing about three or four years ago and Guffy came out of observations of people I was working with and things that I had noticed here.

"This character formed in my head so I started writing the play. I applied for the Edinburgh National Partnership last year but they asked me to do a bit more work on it.

"So, I went away and worked on it and added to it and got approved by them this year. I was really chuffed to get through the selection process."

Guffy is set to be performed in Bunker Two at the Pleasance Courtyard, a 60-seat theatre, promising guests a very intimate performance.

Glenna has currently launched a Crowdfunder to help support production and fuel costs for the performance.

On top of the standard performance, Guffy will also be airing a captioned performance and a relaxed show for those with additional needs.

Glenna has been selected by the Pleasance Theatre in London and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre as part of the Edinburgh National Partnership to represent the area as part of the Futures Season at the Fringe.

"This is the first time I will have written, directed and produced something," Glenna added. "It's quite a big undertaking.

"I'm enjoying it, it ticks a lot of boxes for me this is all about trying something new for me.

"I'm really looking forward to it, but through gritted teeth."
