A SAUCHIE pub has been announced as the best in the Wee County as it makes the shortlist for a national award.

The Mansfield Arms was revealed as one of the Scottish finalists at the National Pub & Bar Awards.

The awards select one pub from each council area, with each nomination going on to compete for the regional and national titles.

Oliver Graham, manager for the Mansfield, said: “We are thoroughly delighted for our small team to receive this recognition, it means a lot to us all at the Mansfield.

“We are a small brew pub and have been brewing our own real ales for over 30 years now and have, since lockdown, added some new handcrafted ales.

“The latest of these was our new lager which was only introduced last week to much success.

“Our ales have always been available to wash down our traditional heart meals but in recent years, we have introduced some delicious cocktails for the ladies too.

“However, we really do owe this success to our fantastic staff and customers for their continued support.”

The nominated bars will take part in the grand final award ceremony, set to take place in London on June 28.

A winner will be announced for each of the three Scottish regions – North West Scotland, North East Scotland and South West Scotland.

The overall winner, which will include pubs across the whole of the UK, will also be announced at the ceremony.
