A CLACKS charity has launched two weekly events to promote mental health awareness throughout the month of May.

Resonate Together has announced they will be running a weekly chess social club and open exchange sessions.

The chess club will be open to visitors of all levels every Thursday evening during May from 6-8pm and will be held at the Carsebridge Cultural Campus in Alloa.

Entry is £3 per person per session to be paid on arrival. Resonate will supply the chessboard, although visitors are free to bring their own if they prefer to.

The open exchange sessions aims to provide a safe space for people to come together and share experiences without fear of judgement.

Hoping to “celebrate uniqueness”, this exchange is open to everybody who has an open mind and a willingness to participate.

This is held every Sunday in May from 1-3pm at Carsebridge Cultural Campus and is completely free of charge.

Susi Sinclair, team member at Resonate, said: “We’ve known for a while that chess has a positive impact on mental health, reducing anxiety, building confidence and self-awareness.

“We thought Mental Health Awareness Month was the perfect time to launch our chess social club.

“The open exchange embodies everything we’re about at Resonate Together, providing a safe, community-led, people-first environment.”

Resonate Together was established in 2010 and aims to focus on forging a strong, diverse and connected community.

The team at Resonate hope to continue running these events past May to support the community’s needs.
