A WEE COUNTY artist held his first exhibition over the weekend, opening his doors for people to come and see his work.

Kyle Blain, 20, opened his showcase at Clackmannan Town Hall over the weekend and laid out dozens of paintings that he had worked on over the years.

This was the first exhibition the budding artist had held and he was excited to show off his hard work.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Kyle said the exhibition went extremely well and he is already looking ahead to the next one.

“It went really well,” Kyle said. “The exhibition exceeded my expectations – we had an amazing turnout and everything went to plan.

“We had about 100 people over the course of the full day, which was amazing.

“A lot of people told me they thought it was cool to see my art in person rather than on social media.

“This allowed people to get an idea of the scale of my work and how much effort had been put in to some of them. All the feedback was very positive.”

Kyle mainly focuses on artwork featuring some of his favourite artists and albums and has produced portraits of artists such as Sam Fender and Amy Winehouse and also albums like Definitely Maybe by Oasis.

He started producing artwork more frequently during the Covid lockdown, concentrating all his efforts into getting his work out there.

Kyle runs a website where he sells his artwork and also has a clothing range with prints on t-shirts and hoodies.

“Hosting my first exhibition was unreal,” Kyle added. “I don’t feel a lot of people do it at my age so for me to be able to do it so early on and have so much work to show, it was unbelievable.

“For people to come in, see my work and receive it so well, it was just unbelievable. I’m really pleased with the whole thing.”

Kyle is planning a trip to London soon, where he will be working with a café to provide artwork for the interior walls to spruce it up.

He plans on holding another exhibition in the near future for anyone who missed their chance on the first.

Kyle’s artwork can be viewed on his website kyleblainart.com and can be bought from the website for between £10-£24.
