A GROUP of angry Alloa parents have called for support as they feel their street has become increasingly dangerous for children to play on.

Residents at Tay Court say they have blighted by large potholes, overgrown weeds and crumbling walls for a while now.

They claim to have reported the issues to Clackmannanshire Council but have received no reply.

One parent is also upset that a nearby patch of grass has been fenced off, rendering it unusable for her child.

Rachel Wallace has a 6-year-old son with autism and insists she cannot take her son to the nearest park due to the loud noises and crowds and would prefer a quieter patch near her home.

She said: "There's two autistic kids that live in the court and we've been at the council to ask why this green area has been padlocked up and why we can't use it.

"Wimpy Park is close to us but it's a no-go for me at the moment because my son could panic and have a meltdown.

"The walls around the car park are all falling to bits. The garden walls are all falling down and there's lots of kids in the area that could get hurt.

"There's drain covers missing, you could play a round of golf with the size of the potholes in the court. It's full of weeds. The court has been forgotten about."

Rachel wants the fenced off area to be reopened, hoping to use it as a quieter green space where her son could play and feel comfortable.

However, Clackmannanshire Council responded to claims made about the fenced off area, stating it had been closed off years ago as a result of a noise complaint.

A spokesperson said: "After concerns were raised by a Tay Court resident, a housing officer reported the broken wall to the repairs team as well as a broken gully drain cover to our roads team in order for remedial action to take place.

"The council applies weed killer to relevant areas twice a year.

"The grassed area was fenced off several years ago due to noise and nuisance complaints.

"There are no plans to remove it for children to play in."
