MEMBERS and volunteers at a good cause seeking to secure two buildings at risk for community use have been left “devastated” following an act of vandalism.

Harvey House, one of the former Carsebridge Distillery buildings taken over by charity Resonate Together, was the target of vandals on Tuesday, May 2, night into the next morning.

A few windows were smashed as a result, leaving charity leaders feeling “lost for words” upon discovering the damage.

Just hours before the damage was done, Resonate founder and CEO Angela Watt was giving tours of the site, speaking to organisations about collaboration with organisations look at utilising the buildings as a hub site.

“We did big tours around the site and everything was fine,” she continued.

“And then we come back in on Wednesday morning and three of the windows at Harvey House were smashed – stones have been thrown through, big chunks of wood have been thrown through.

“They've broken two of the windows at the big doors that open out onto the back garden, which is a real shame.”

The incident left everyone at Resonate “soul-destroyed and gutted”, volunteers having been putting in hard work to bring the formerly abandoned buildings back into use.

Indeed, Resonate has been exploring the heritage of the former distillery and hopes to develop what it has dubbed as the Carsebridge Cultural Campus – one aim being to build pride in the town of Alloa.

The incident has been referred to the police and officers are investigating.
