THE Clackmannan Development Trust has been awarded a Paths for All funding grant to support and promote sustainable travel throughout Scotland.
Staff at the CDT received the grant of £8,420 through Smarter Choices Smarter Places, a programme devoted to more eco-friendly travel.
The money will support the Trust’s Active Travel Project which aims to promote cycling or walking when making short local journeys.
Trust members offer a variety of classes and events which help to improve confidence, bike maintenance and repair clinics, guided social cycling and the Bikeability programme for pupils at Clackmannan PS.
Paths for All is a charity which aims to promote walking and cycling in Scotland, while fostering a happier, healthier nation where physical activity improves quality of life and wellbeing for all.
The trust plan to work alongside the local heritage group to produce maps of safe local cycling routes in an attempt to encourage residents to explore the local area sustainably.
Anyone interested in taking up cycling can contact Scott Bamford at the CDT on 07922 797799 or email clackmannanactivetravel@outlook.com.
