A SAUCHIE man has been jailed after carrying out a violent attack on his pregnant partner.

Jack Logan, also known as Lovell, of Kippen Place, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court by video-link from prison last Thursday, May 11.

He previously admitted that on January 29, last year, at his home he assaulted his partner, who was then pregnant, seized her by the hair, dragged her by the hair, pulled her from the bed causing her to strike her head, covered her with a duvet and prevented her from summoning assistance, all to her injury.

The 22-year-old also admitted that on March 25, this year, at Paterson Place, Tullibody, he breached bail conditions by contacting his partner.

He further admitted breaching bail conditions on April 14 this year when he was again in her company.

Depute fiscal Rachel Wallace said of the assault: "There had been an argument between them. He became aggressive and grabbed her by the hair. He dragged her around the bed and she banged her head.

"He then put the duvet over her. She was screaming and he eventually got off her.

"He was shouting at her: 'Get the f*** out'. She contacted the police.

"She had a cut to her face and a lump on the side of her head."

Defence solicitor Robert Smith said: "He's a young immature man. Being in custody has been a wake-up call for him and something he doesn't want to repeat. He's extremely remorseful."

Sheriff Neil Bowie told Logan: "This assault on your partner was very unpleasant and would have been distressing, alarming and frightening for her."

He imposed a jail term of 66 days backdated to April 17.

He also imposed a community payback order with 180 hours of unpaid work, 30 months of supervision and participation in the Caledonian Programme for domestic offenders.

Sentence was deferred on one of the breaches until November 9.
