AN ALLOA charity has received a £2,000 boost to continue its support for young people and families.

Community House Alloa has received the financial support from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues at the society's branch in the town.

A unique charity, Community House offers a facility for children, young people and adults to meet and share.

It provides activities which are informal and personal to provide a safer, stronger and more cohesive community.

Shelley-Anne Aitken, chief executive at Community House Alloa, said: "We are really thankful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation that will help us continue to provide our services."

The donation will be used to purchase toys, arts and crafts materials as well as cooking equipment and bedding.

David Montgomery, manager of Yorkshire Building Society in Alloa, said: "We are proud to be able to support Community House in our community in Alloa with a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

"The work that they are doing to support all ages of the community is providing a real benefit to their lives."
