THE community of Alva came together at the weekend for a brilliant day of fun.

Alva Fun Day took place on Saturday, May 27, at the Cochrane Park with plenty to enjoy for families.

Organised by Alva Community Council, there was free entry to the park after a colourful parade leaving from Alva Baptist Church.

Many dressed up with a Super Mario Bros theme for the annual event, which was hailed a success.

The community council said in a social media post: “Thank you to everyone who contributed to yet another brilliant day including members of the public, the marshals for the parade and the Police Scotland Youth Volunteers Alloa in the park.”

Thanks went to Kyle Rees, who was the piper on the day, and his family while a congratulations went to Robbie who win the kick darts with a score of 153, believed to be the highest yet.

At the park, there were bouncy castles, a roller coaster simulator, children's rides, a slide, the Tartan Juggler, face painters, Owl Magic, refreshments and ice cream and more.

Stalls were sold out and there was a fire engine, representatives from Ochils Mountain Rescue Team, a showcase by Forefront Stage School and more.

The community council added: “The biggest reward for our efforts is of course seeing so many families with kids having so much fun.”
