ARTWORK produced by autistic individuals at an Alloa charity has succeeded in raising over £1000 in sales at a showcase.

Scottish Autism held their Art Opportunities spring exhibition to show off the hard work of the members of their charity.

Artwork created ranged from a broad range of mediums, including stained and fused glass, textiles, painting and modelling.

Those visiting the exhibition were able to view and purchase the artwork created by individuals, which raised a whopping £1400 on the evening.

Megan McConnachie, senior autism practitioner, said: “The Art Opportunities exhibition was a great chance to showcase the talents of the individuals who attend the service.

“We were blown away by the support shown by colleague

es, family members and members of the public who attended to admire the artwork, and purchase items which caught their eye.

“The sum raised is fantastic, and will go a long way towards helping us to continue to provide support to the individuals who attend Art Opportunities.

“People who weren’t able to attend to attend on the night can still pick up some of the great artwork being produced at the shop and gallery in Makers Café.

“We are really grateful for the support shown to the exhibition, and we are already looking forward to the next one.”

Art Opportunities is a vocational service which supports autistic people by helping them to express themselves through arts and crafts based activities.
