A CLACKS gym is set to undergo a huge expansion project in the next month, with the aim to bolster its facilities.
uGym Tillicoultry has bought over the vacant property connected to the building they reside in and are hoping to redevelop the space.
The aim of this project is to provide Clackmannanshire with an advanced cycle studio, fitness studio and performance centre.
Jack Urquhart, managing director for uGym, said they always had their eye on expanding into the vacant space after first opening.
He said: “It has always been part of our vision to expand next door and to be able to offer a bigger and better experience to our members.
“We also want to provide a space for local clubs and sports teams from the local community to come along and use.
“We are also expanding our youth development academy where we want to reach out to children under 16 years of age from all over the Clackmannanshire area to promote a healthy lifestyle through fitness and education.”
uGym opened its doors in 2019, having taken over half of the old Tillicoultry Woollen Mill.
Coming out of Covid, the gym bosses began working on ways to grow the business, first by hosting their uGym games in June.
Now their expansion is well underway, with electric cycling machines fitted in what will eventually become the cycle studio.
Jack added: “From where we were on day one of this project to where we are today has involved a lot of planning and hard work but we all know it will be worth it.”
uGym plan to have completed the development by early August, with an open day planned to showcase the upgraded space.
