A MORNING filled with fun games will be waiting for Wee County young people this weekend as an Alloa bowling club seeks to add fresh blood to the scene.

No experience will be needed as Alloa Co-op Bowling Club hosts its very first Under 17 Fun Day and invitational competition on Sunday, August 6.

Fun games such as bowlseye and basket bowls will be available for young and old at the Sunnyside Road club from 10am in the morning.

Following a lunch break, the afternoon will give all under 17s a chance to play in a singles competition to battle it out for the club's brand new shield.

The club, which in 1925 with a mission of encouraging and promoting the sport, hopes to bring the younger generations in.

A social media post by the club's James Lindsay explained: “Now, after an enjoyable, friendly and busy game against Tillicoultry Bowling Club, it is even more apparent that we need to build on the future generations otherwise there won't be these friendlies.”

People looking to take part are asked to arrive at the club by 9.30am to register for the 10am start.

A break will take place for lunch between 11.30am and 12.15pm before the singles competition starts at 12.30pm with the event to be wrapped up by around 2pm.

James added: “No experience is needed just a willingness to have fun and learn, with parents invited to join in the fun challenges as well.

“Only requirement is flat soled shoes and to arrive by 9.30am to register.

“Lunch will be provided before they compete to be crowned champion.”
