A RECENTLY established Clacks volunteering group held its first major event to resounding success, drawing in support from across the Wee County.

Friends of CHAS Clackmannanshire held its craft fayre at the Coronation Hall in Muckhart last weekend.

The heads of the group announced they have raised over £3000 for the charity, in what has been a successful first major fundraiser.

Diane Walker, lead of the Friends of CHAS Clackmannanshire, said: “I am very pleased and proud to say we had an amazing turn out on Saturday and we have raised over £3300 for CHAS.

“Both myself, Marion Riddell and our other committee member Sharon Brown are absolutely delighted with this and would like to thank everyone for attending and donating such generous amounts.

“It was a whole team effort and we couldn’t have done it without help from our family and friends.

“We were lucky enough also to have two helpers from the original group which was set up way back in the 1990s.

“We would also like to thank our sponsors for their kind donations of raffle and silent auction prizes.”

The group was founded to hold support events towards CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) with founders stating the charity is very close to their hearts.

CHAS is the only service in the country which deals with babies, young people and children with a lift shortening condition.

Their mission is to make sure all families in that situation receive the help and support they deserve.
