An Alva woman spat on a police officer and then kicked out as she was being put in a van.

Claire Seath, 32, of Blindwells, appeared for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on October 7 last year at Stirling Street, Alva, she assaulted a police officer by spitting on her body and kicking the door of a police vehicle causing it to strike her.

Depute fiscal Rachel Wallace said police had received a 999 call reporting a disturbance and had tracked down Seath. She was being taken to a police van when she spat on an officer. She then kicked at the door of the van which struck the officer on the hand.

Defence solicitor Charlotte Watt said her client was a first offender and had “little to no recollection” of the incident after consuming alcohol.

Sheriff William Gilchrist fined Seath £290.
