A NUMBER of Wee County businesses got the chance to meet with First Minister Humza Yousaf and John Nicolson MP to discuss the landscape of being a small business owner.

Among these business owners was Stephen Sloper, who runs Penny Licks Tillicoultry, a popular ice cream shop in Clacks.

Stephen met with Mr Yousaf and Mr Nicolson to discuss the challenges he faces during the cost-of-living crisis as part of his business.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Stephen said: “I had the pleasure of being invited to meet with four other small business owners to discuss the current challenges we were facing in these difficult times.

“It was a great opportunity to speak with Humza Yousaf and John Nicolson and to discuss with him the challenges we have faced and continue to face as a small business in a rural setting was an opportunity I most welcomes.

“Such discussions can make changes which could hopefully help not only ourselves but others soon.”

Penny Licks has recently won three major awards at Scotland’s biggest ice cream competition.
