A FIRST headline gig for Dunfermline band Panhead Sharps is promising to offer "something for everybody".

The show will take place at McQ's, above Coadys Bar on Pilmuir Street, and will also feature performances from Aye Hobos and The Dirty Cooks.

John Simpson, the Panhead Sharps' singer, had originally organised for a band from Australia to travel over for the gig, but a change of plans led to the opportunity for his own band to step into the headline slot.

And he expects there will be music to suit most tastes, as long as you like rock music.

He said: "The Aye Hobos are quite a crowd-pleaser, they play country-punk covers.

"My band is a wee bit heavier, we are a rock and roll band and then The Dirty Cooks are a grunge style band.

"I guess you just need to like rock music, there's something there for everybody if you're a rock fan.

"McQ's is an up and coming venue and we are really looking to give starting-out artists time as well as established acts, we are trying to create a musical hub there.

"With McQ's any band can play there, any style, any night.

"James 'Barney' Ward runs the gigs up there and always show cases talent and up and coming talent.

"Dougie and Valerie Inglis own Coadys and we couldn’t make these gigs happen without them."

The Panhead Sharps have been together for just over a year and recently released their first single, Worried Mind.

The band is made up of John Simpson on vocals and guitar, Troy Leggat on drums and Michael Watson on bass guitar.

The show will take place on Friday, November 10, from 6pm.

Tickets will be £12 on the door but £10 if bought in advance from any of the bands on the line-up.
