FORTH VALLEY COLLEGE has issued a reminder to students of the upcoming strike action next week.
The college has confirmed that there will be industrial action taking place by Unison members on Friday, October 6.
Despite the strikes, all three of the college’s main campuses – Alloa, Stirling and Falkirk – will remain open, with the college not anticipating any disruption to learning and teaching for students on the day.
Friday will be the third day of planned industrial action undertaken by Unison, with two days already having taken place on Thursday, September 7 and Wednesday, September 13 in alignment with Unite the Union and EIS/FELA.
Alison Stewart, vice principal for finance and corporate affairs at Forth Valley College, said: “As we enter the third day of strike action, our aim, as always is to minimise the impact on learning and teaching, wherever possible.
“However, we do not anticipate that any classes will be affected on Friday, October 6.
“We understand how challenging this situation is and we are doing everything we can to support our students.
“We hope a resolution is reached soon.”
On Friday, Forth Valley College confirmed that commercial training courses, the exam programme, and the 2023 graduation ceremony set to take place at the Falkirk campus, will go ahead.
Alongside the main strikes, the EIS/FELA union is also undertaking action short of strike.
This means that those participating may not undertake goodwill activities such as overtime and cannot share exam results with the college or any other organisation.
