AN ALLOA community champion has been named as a finalist at the annual Scotland Loves Local Awards.

Diane Brown, project manager for Alloa First, has been shortlisted in the final for the Place Leader category for her work in improving the town centre.

With Alloa First, Diane has overseen the improvement of the town centre, including updating Alloa’s CCTV network and ensuring a Christmas light switch on event goes ahead each year.

On top of that, she is a trustee for Alloa Hub, involved with Alloa in Bloom, a member of Clackmannanshire Business Support Partnership and on the board of Discover Clackmannanshire.

Diane commented: “I was very surprised but delighted to be nominated for this award which is a reflection of not only everyone involved with Alloa First but also all of the partners we work with.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating the achievements of all those who have been shortlisted at the award ceremony next month and would like to congratulate all the nominees.”

Diane’s nomination marks the only Clacks-based initiative to make the finals, with Forth Valley Food and Drink representing the wider Forth Valley.

These awards are organised by the Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP), with each finalist invited to a ceremony in Dundee on Tuesday, November 28.

Kimberley Guthrie, STP interim chief officer, said: “Our team never fails to be amazed by the dedication, determination and innovation which make our communities great – and are making them stronger for the future.

“Our shortlisted entries fly the flag for creativity, entrepreneurship, sustainability and so much more.

“I can’t wait to hear more about the difference they make. My thanks to our sponsors for making these awards possible.”
