A barbers in Tullibody are once again collecting Christmas gifts as part of a charity’s annual toy appeal.

Colleen Hislop and Lorraine Jack, co-owners at Goodfellas barbers, take part in the KidsOut Giving Tree appeal each year. The initiative gives gifts to children who are living in local refuge homes after fleeing domestic violence.

Colleen Hislop, co-owner of Goodfellas barbers, said: “We’ve done it for a good few years now. I think with the cost of living families are finding it a lot harder so if we can give something back to the kids, we’re going to do it. We normally do really well.

“It’s just simple things like colouring in sets, Barbies, footballs, stuff like that, it’s never anything that costs a lot, it’s always smaller stuff.”

The appeal collection has already started, and the donations will be collected by KidsOut on Saturday, December 2.

The way the Giving Tree appeal works is Goodfellas has a Christmas tree in their shop which has tags detailing present requests. The tags are anonymous but will include a brief description of the child’s interests and their age.

Those who wish to take part can take a tag, then purchase a gift for that child which they can then drop off at Goodfellas for KidsOut to collect later.

“There’s normally a van load that leaves here full to the brim," said Colleen. "It’s good to give something back.”
