A FISHCROSS dad recovering from cancer won more than £123,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Duncan Miller was one of the residents on Gannel Hill View, Fishcross, who landed a share of the jackpot prize of £3.2 million.

“It’s truly magical for us to win this money,” the 59-year-old said. “I still can’t believe it, it’s like I’m in a dream.

“We’ve had a really dramatic time of it, when you get told you’ve got bowel cancer and now to go to from one extreme to another, it’s just amazing.”

Duncan was one of ten winners on Gannel Hill View who bagged £123,076 each after their postcode FK10 3GN was announced as the winner of the November Postcode Millions prize on Saturday, December 2.

As reported by the Advertiser, the FK10 3 postcode was drawn last week, entitling everyone to a share of the prize.

A special event was held at Sterling Mills Shopping Outlet, Tillicoultry on Saturday, with the jackpot winners announced at the ceremony.

Duncan was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 and has since underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and two major surgeries to have the tumour removed.

“We woke up and it was like Christmas morning,” his wife Alison said. “The snow was coming down and we were all giddy with excitement.

“To then see the whole Postcode Lottery team in red with cameras going down our street was quite surreal.

“After the last few years to come through the other side and to get this, it’s just like ‘listen guys, everything is going to be okay now, let’s just have fun’ and that’s what we’re going to do.”

The couple plan to use the money to celebrate Duncan’s upcoming 60th birthday, with their holiday to Turkey set to be upgraded.

They will be joined by son Ryan, daughter-in-law Laura and their granddaughters Sophie and Lucy, aged four and three.

“It’ll be five star now,” Duncan continued. “We’ll be back on the internet upgrading and I’ll be having the best party ever.

“I was never expecting to be so wealthy at 60. It’s nice to say you’ve got some money in the bank.

“I’ve always wanted to see the Niagara Falls. You see it on the telly and it looks pretty spectacular. Now it’s a place we can visit.”

One lucky household on Gannel Hill View managed to double their winnings by having two tickets, guaranteeing them £246,152.

Margo and Vince Taylor, both foster carers, looked ahead to fulfilling their dreams of a road trip after winning.

“It is a miracle,” Margo said. “Us, winning something, it is a Christmas miracle.

“With our big family, Christmas is always special, but this year will be amazing.

“We’ve always wanted to buy a motor home and have the freedom to explore Europe and we’ve always held on to hope that one day that could happen.”

Vince added: “It’s amazing to know, we can now tour Europe and beyond – obviously once the family is all settled.

“I can’t lie, I’d like to buy a top spec Land Rover Discover, but Margo is in charge of the purse strings, so we’ll wait and see.”

A total of 467 winners from the FK10 3 postcode won prizes ranging from £3,024 to £9,072, attending the event to find out how much they had won.

Postcode Lottery ambassadors Jeff Brazier and Danyl Johnson touched down on Gannel Hill View to surprise the winners with their golden envelopes.

Jeff said: “I loved every second of my time in snowy Clackmannanshire, surprising hundreds of players with thousands of pounds.”

“Congratulations to all the winners,” Danyl added. “I’m sure they’ll be celebrating all the way into 2024.”
