A CLACKS foodbank charity has thanked residents of the Wee County for their outstanding generosity this Christmas.

The manager of The Gate Charity Shop issued a thank you to kind members of the community who have donating both clothes and money to the store.

Staff and volunteers at the shop have worked tirelessly since re-opening in July to create a warm, welcoming environment for customers.

This environment is overseen by Michelle Hunter, manager of the shop on Mill Street, who also brings her wee dog Odie in to work too, who loves getting treats from customers.

The Gate is gearing up for a busy Christmas, with Michelle Hunter, manager of the shop on Mill Street, praising Clacks residents for their efforts.

She said: “Since we moved along here, the support from everyone has just been phenomenal between customers coming in that love the shop and complimenting it.

“It’s been really good for the shop and for the volunteers because they’re perked up when they get feedback on their displays.

“It’s overwhelmed me with how kind and generous people can be in their donations, it’s been so special to see.

“I’ve been here since the end of July and I do love all the people who volunteer in the shop, I call them my VIPs and I think they’re all amazing.

“They’ve all come a long way, in terms of their confidence and other ways since we moved in here.”

To help people prepare for Christmas, The Gate Charity Shop has also announced they will be holding a discount sale this coming week.

All toys, Christmas trees and decorations will be put on a ‘buy two, get one free’ sale, created to help families who are perhaps feeling the pinch this festive season.

Michelle added: “The sale starts this week and all kids toys, Christmas trees and decorations that are available to buy will now be ‘buy two, get one free’.

“We’re always looking for donations, clothes, bric-a-brac, even electrical items, stuff like that as well if anyone is doing a Christmas clear out.

“A big thank you goes out to everyone who voted for us for best shop window as well. Myself and Evelyn had a great time creating the scene.

"We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas when it comes."

Visit The Gate shop on 69 Mill Street for more. The shop will close on Saturday, December 23 but donations can be handed in until December 28 this year.
