A 35-year-old man, who stole jewellery from a relative in Clackmannan, has not paid back a penny in compensation.
As a result, Steven Craig, formerly of Deer Park, Sauchie and now of Alexandra Street, Kirkcaldy, appeared back in the dock at Alloa Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that between October 23 and 30, 2021 at an address in Clackmannan, he stole a quantity of jewellery.
He was put on a court order but breached it by not completing the unpaid work and failing to pay compensation.
Defence solicitor Kelly Howe said Craig had suffered from mental health issues, adding: “He recognises he ought to have made a better effort.”
Sheriff Neil Bowie said: “I’ve given up on him living up to his promises. He hasn’t made a single payment despite being on a good income at certain times.”
He told Craig: “You’re coming close to being sent to prison. The main reason I’m not doing that today is that you’re a first offender.
“This is a serious matter, the theft of jewellery from a relative.”
He imposed a four-month restriction of liberty order.
