THE chairman of Alloa Athletic has condemned the violent behaviour of a group of fans after last Saturday's game, insisting the club is "ashamed" of their actions.

As reported by the Advertiser, Alloa's 3-1 win over Edinburgh City was overshadowed by reports of two young away fans being attacked outside the KFC next to the Indodrill Stadium.

The two young boys were attacked by a group of alleged home fans before security managed to intervene and put an end to the incident.

Now, Andy Allan, chairman of Alloa Athletic, has blasted their behaviour and reassured they will be working alongside the authorities to identify those responsible.

He said: "Alloa Athletic Football Club is appalled at the incident after the match v Edinburgh City on Saturday, January 6, 2024 which resulted in two away fans being assaulted outside KFC after the match.

"We condemn the actions of those responsible and apologise to Edinburgh City and the two fans affected.

"Our club is ashamed to be associated with anyone involved in this incident and we are angry that the actions of a minority have completely overshadowed the match.

"This behaviour tarnishes our reputation and will not be tolerated by the club.

"We are currently working with the relevant authorities to identify the perpetrators who will face the strongest action from the club."

Alloa beat Edinburgh 3-1 on Saturday, with goals coming from Bobby Wales, Kevin Cawley and Ally Roy.
