THE first Wee County baby of the year was born at Forth Valley Royal Hospital last week.

Sophia O’Hara was brought into the world on Friday, January 5 at 19.05pm to Carol Andrew and Danny O’Hara, from Sauchie.

Weighing 8lbs, 5oz, Sophia is the couple’s first baby and was due to be born a day earlier on January 4.

Mum Carol told the Advertiser: “They kept telling me she was going to be really small and then she came out at 8lbs which is quite big for a baby.

“She was almost bang on, just a day late.”

Sophia’s birth also comes as the first girl in Danny’s side of the family for a number of years, with his brothers only having had boys.

“She’s the first girl born on Danny’s side in a long time,” Carol added. “He’s got brothers and they’ve only had boys so it’s been a wee while.

“Danny going really above and beyond so he’s feeling great.”

Carol and Danny knew they were expecting a girl for the duration of the pregnancy, with the couple adding that they’re excited their baby girl is finally here.

“We’re really excited about it all,” Carol continued. “We’re a little bit nervous but we’re so happy and excited that she’s here.”

Sophia was the first baby born in Clackmannanshire of 2024, with babies from Stirling and Falkirk pipping them to first place in the Forth Valley area.
