A CEREMONY was held to celebrate the Alva Development Trust receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service last Thursday.

As reported by the Advertiser in November, the ADT were one of the 2023 recipients of the King’s Award during the king’s birthday.

Around a hundred people attended the ceremony, held on Thursday, January 18, at the Cochrane Hall, where the ADT officially received their merit, which is the equivalent of an MBE.

Lord Lieutenant Johnny Stewart was on hand to praise the hard working team of volunteers from the trust, singling out the uniqueness of their work which led to them becoming one of only 20 Scottish winners of the prestigious award.

Volunteers from the trust provided a splendid afternoon tea for everyone there. Mary Laing, chair of the ADT, received the award from Johnny Stewart, with the group of current volunteers receiving the Award Crystal.
