A PRISONER who threw boiling water over a fellow inmate at HMP Glenochil has been given more time behind bars.

Scott Menzies, 27, was representing himself when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court by video link from prison.

He admitted that on September 27, 2023 at HMP Glenochil he assaulted a fellow prisoner by throwing a cup of boiling water at him.

Depute fiscal Sean Iles said at 11.20am Menzies had entered the victim’s cell and threw the boiling water over him.

The prisoner pressed a call button to alert prison guards.

He had been struck on the neck and was seen by a nurse but was not seriously injured.

When given the opportunity to speak Menzies declined to comment on what had happened.

He told the court he is currently serving a sentence of seven years and ten months.

Sheriff Neil Bowie told him: “Clearly injury was intended.”

He jailed Menzies for seven months to run consecutively to his current term.
