Plans for a new Burger King restaurant with drive through and takeaway have been drawn up for a site on the edge of Alloa.

Falkirk-based CM Estates has applied to Clackmannanshire Council for planning permission for a development at Old Russells Yard, off Clackmannan Road.

The plans also include parking spaces for 34 vehicles and access footpaths.

A supporting statement by Arka Architects on behalf of the applicant explains that the site is currently occupied by a vehicular dismantling operation, Alloa Auto Dismentlers Ltd.

It goes on to state that this business has additional space in the eastern area of the yard and occupation of the area earmarked for the restaurant is on an informal basis with no lease restricting its use in place.

Arka continues: "The land can therefore be put to any approved use at any time. The current occupier has confirmed to the applicant that their business ‘Alloa Auto Dismentlers Ltd’ can operate on the reduced area to the east, necessary to allow this application to be implemented."

The council's roads and transportation service has been consulted about the application, and it has noted that the site is served by a singular access road linked to the Alloa Park Drive, opposite the retail park site where Morrisons and B&M are based.

The service also notes that "the intended access arrangements here will need to accommodate fairly significant volumes of customer and commercial traffic" and asks that a condition be attached to any consent stating "the whole development must be served by a road designed and constructed to a standard suitable for adoption by the council".

The application will be determined by the council is due course.
