A youth charity in Alloa has just celebrated its fifth anniversary.

Connect Alloa, a youth group which aims to tackle loneliness among young people, held a party last Tuesday (February 27) to celebrate the anniversary. The group wants to be a safe space where youngsters can enjoy themselves, make friends, and try out different activities.

The anniversary event included talks from staff and young people, and parents and guardians were invited along to the event. Mentors with the charity were also given the chance to speak about what benefits they get out of being a mentor for the organisation.

As previously reported in the Advertiser, Connect Alloa expanded its team members back in October. It also later welcomed two youth work apprentices as part of the Hatch programme run by Youth Scotland.

Dave Crozier, charity founder and project leader at Connect Alloa: “When I started this, running a charity had always been my dream, so I never thought I’d be here, never mind five years into it.”

He joked: “Now they are stuck with me!”

Connect Alloa currently hosts regular sessions on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
