THE world famous aurora borealis was visible in Clackmannanshire over the weekend.

The light phenomenon was made possible due to the strongest solar storm in decades hitting the Earth on Friday evening.

Alloa based photographer Richard Harvey MBE captured the colourful sky emanating over Glendevon in Dollar.

The aurora, also known as the northern lights, was visible across the UK with many spots in Scotland providing a clear view of the phenomenon.
