AN ALLOA born Olympian has partnered up with Aldi Scotland to share the perfect shopping basket for aspiring athletes.

Duncan Scott, two-time Olympic swimmer with Team GB, has teamed up with the supermarket giant to reveal his must-have Scottish food.

Duncan is part of the swim team for this year’s Team GB at the upcoming Paris Olympics, with Aldi remaining the official supermarket sponsor since 2015.

He said: “Swimming is a power-to-weight ration sport, so I need to make the right choices and that means having different options.

“For me, good quality produce is where it all starts.

“I’m a very proud Scot, so it makes me even prouder that some of my must-have foods for these next few weeks come from people running food and drink businesses here in Scotland.”

Sharing his weekly shop, the Olympic swimmer chose strawberries, porridge oats, strawberry preserve and Choco Hoops for his breakfast.

Moving onto lunch and dinner, he completed his day with a porridge oat bar, eggs, salmon fillets, sirloin steak and sweet potatoes.

Duncan has his eyes set firmly on Paris 2024, following up from his impressive performance at Tokyo 2020.

The Clacks man won four gold medals at the last Olympic Games, more than any other British athlete at a single games.

Graham Nicolson, regional managing director at Aldi Scotland, added: “This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for us to inspire a nation to get excited about fitness, food and a summer of sport.

“Working with Duncan, one of Scotland’s leading athletes, gives us the perfect opportunity to highlight some of the finest quality and nutritious produce made here in Scotland and available on our shelves.”
