IF YOU’RE looking for a pub to visit this weekend, then there’s several in Clackmannanshire that you can visit for a pint.
CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2025 is a beer and pub guide that helps pubgoers find a good pint of real ale and several Clacks venues get a mention in the Loch Lomond, Stirling, and Trossachs section.
The full guide can be purchased online.
Here are their recommendations.
Bobbing John
This Wetherspoon pub in Alloa has a wide selection of drinks and food, serving meals such as gourmet burgers, pizzas, chicken, and pub classics.
As previously reported in the Advertiser, the Bobbing John even received national acclaim for the quality and standards of their toilet facilities.
The Inn at Muckhart
Situated close to the Japanese Gardens, the inn produces good-quality food and serves its own Devon Ales, which are brewed at its own sister pub, the Mansfield Arms.
The venue has been owned by the Gibson family for over 25 years, and has stood in the heart of Muckhart for more than 200 years, as it used to be an 18th century coaching inn.
Mansfield Arms
This traditional bar in Sauchie is dog-friendly and as well as serving food and drink, also has live performances.
Hollie6930 gave this review on TripAdvisor: “Great traditional pub! Thank you to the 2 ladies who welcomed my family plus dog in the dining area today.
“Great food and drink, very friendly service, spoilt our dog too! We came from the Woods caravan site visiting Scotland for the third time from England and always like to visit a pub whilst out and about so we are glad we came in here!”
Royal Arms
This pub in Tillicoultry has large sports TVs, a fruit machine, and a Victorian fireplace which is perfect for those cold winter days.
The Volunteer Arms
This pub, also in Tillicoultry, has had great success.
As previously reported in the Advertiser, the Volunteer Arms was given the New Real Ale Pub of the Year 2022 from CAMRA to recognise its efforts in bringing quality real ale to visitors.
