AN ALLOA man sped through a zebra crossing narrowly missing a pedestrian.
Alan Walsh, of Sunnyside Court, was hit with a lengthy ban and the maximum amount of unpaid work when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court.
The incident took place on March 24 at Tullibody Road, Alloa, near the junction with Ochil Street.
Walsh admitted he drove a car dangerously, at excessive speeds, overtook vehicles when it was unsafe to do so and failed to slow down approaching a zebra crossing.
He then overtook a car which had stopped at the crossing, drove at excessive speed when a woman was on the crossing, whereby she had to take evasive action to avoid being struck.
Depute fiscal Sean Iles said Walsh had been seen driving erratically at speed in the area even before the incident at the zebra crossing.
Defence solicitor Mary Ellen Scobbie said: “He’s ashamed of his behaviour.”
Sheriff Neil Bowie noted Walsh had committed “significant road traffic offending in the past”.
He banned Walsh from driving for four years and until he passes the extended test.
He also imposed a community payback order with 300 hours of unpaid work and a year’s supervision.
