ALLOA Athletic Women’s Team are set to climb one of Scotland’s most picturesque Munros in aid of Heart of the Game.
Several of the players will be joined by manager Allan Milne and his coaching staff as they tackle Ben Lomond this Sunday, November 3.
The Wasps have set themselves this challenge to help raise money for Heart of the Game, a charity launched by lifelong Alloa fan and volunteer Kieren Mooney.
All funds raised will then be donated towards the Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), an organisation that supports wellbeing across Scotland.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Milne said: “I’d seen Kieren put up his fundraiser and then Shaun [Mcerlane] suggested we walk up Ben Lomond and raise money for it.

“We put it out to the girls and figured out who was available, so at the moment there’s at least 13 confirmed doing it.
“We felt that mental health right now is so big and relevant so we wanted to do our bit for it. Everyone has suffered from a bit of mental health so we wanted to give a bit back to Kieren and the charity.”
Milne and his team will scale Ben Lomond as part of Kieren’s fundraising push, running until December.
Kieren is hosting a charity football match to raise funds for SAMH and in memory of his mum, who passed away five years ago.
This is the second charity match Kieren has hosted, with the game set to go ahead at the Recs on Saturday, December 21.

“I’m looking forward to raising money for charity,” Milne added. “I can’t say I’m looking forward to putting myself through the gruesome pain of walking up and down that.
“I’ll probably be dying for a week after so it’ll be a challenge in itself but it’ll be one I’m looking forward to.
“With this group of girls we’ve got, they love a challenge, they have a fighting spirit so I’m sure we’ll pull ourselves together and get to the top.”
