CHILDREN will have the chance to enjoy festive magic in Kincardine this year as organisers are getting creative amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The people behind Kincardine Gala are looking to spread some Christmas cheer this year and are using technology in a way they have never done before.

Indeed, and as recently reported, the crowning of the royal party for the children's gala also moved online earlier with many residents tuning into an online live stream to witness the annual occasion.

On Sunday, December 13, the people at Kincardine Gala are organising a virtual Santa's grotto even for families in the town.

Organiser Paula Boyle told the Advertiser: "We had to do things very different this year.

"A normal run up to Christmas for Kincardine Gala included our kids' Christmas party and festive quiz, both of which we are not able to have due to Covid regulations.

"We had to get creative and use technology in a way we have never before."

Children in the village will be able to speak to Santa through "the magic of Zoom", explained Paula, and from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

It will be a free event with each family allocated a five minute time slot to share with Santa and the gala elves will be delivering some goodies to everyone's front door.

Parents can send a private message to the Kincardine Gala Facebook page with the names of their children, their ages, any allergies as well as their home and email addresses.

Paula and the team also have more up their sleeves.

She said: "Thankfully, we are still able to bring Santa's sleigh out on Christmas Eve to travel around the village to spread some much needed Christmas cheer.

"Santa won't be able to stop and greet the children, but he will be able to wave to those who have come to their front doors to see him.

"We will also have our annual best decorated festive house competition – so, get those fairy lights out, Kincardine."

December will also see the beginning of the royal party selection for gala day in 2021 with hopes the annual affair can return as normal.
