ONE death was linked to coronavirus in Clackmannanshire in the first week of July.

That takes the total number of local deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate to 48*, according to latest data from National Records of Scotland (NRS).

Of those 48 deaths, 35 occurred in care homes, 12 in hospital, and one at a home or other non-institutional setting.

The data was published by NRS on Wednesday, July 8, and covers the period from December 30, 2019, until July 5, 2020.

NRS’ data is broken down by local authority, and shows that the number of weekly deaths attributed to the virus in Clackmannanshire (beginning on the dates shown below) were:

• March 23 – 1 death

• March 30 – 3 deaths

• April 6 – 3 deaths

• April 13 – 4 deaths

• April 20 – 4 deaths

• April 27 – 11 deaths

• May 4 – 9 deaths

• May 11 – 6 deaths

• May 18 – 2 deaths

• May 25 – 0 deaths

• June 1 – 0 deaths

• June 8 – 2 deaths

• June 15 – 2 deaths

• June 22 – 0 deaths

• June 29 – 1 death

Turning to NRS’ figures for the area’s health board, it shows there have been 237 Covid-19 related deaths recorded.

And in Scotland overall, 4,173 deaths have been linked to coronavirus; 77 per cent of those involved people aged 75 or above.

Of all the Covid-19 deaths in Scotland to date, 46 per cent occurred in care homes, another 46 per cent in hospitals, and seven per cent at homes or non-institutional settings.
