A FORTH VALLEY hotel is offering youngsters the chance to become mermaids later this month.

The team at Macdonald Inchyra Hotel and Spa are partnering up with Mermaids Scotland in a bid to offer aspiring mer-people the chance to adorn tails and fins, and experience the magic of being a Mermaid on July 26 - and get some much needed Vitamin Sea.

The Scottish based Mermaid group offer mes-mer-ising mermaid experiences - including parties and makeovers for different age groups.

The fishy faction are hosting this pop up event at the Inchyra hotel to offer young buoys and gills the chance to become mermaids and mermen, and embellish themselves with fancy tails and monofins, to provide the perfect look for the school to be trained in the art of mer-swimming – to make all your underwater dreams come true.

For safety and insurance purposes, in order to take part, the soon-to-be mer-folk will need to be able to; swim 25 metres comfortably, able to submerge their face fully, be able to tread in shallow and deep water, be able to lift their knees and turn around 360 degrees in both directions, be able to demonstrate a basic dolphin kick for 5 metres, and be at least six-years-old.

If these can't be achieved, the participant will be offered a land photo as a mermaid and the opportunity to participate as a human in the experience.

This experience will be a fin-tastic way to shell-abrate the summer holidays, and kids will be shore to have a whale of a time.

The event will cost £35 per child and will include use of the equipment, the mermaid lesson, photography, and a tasty lunch of a burger, fries and soft drink in the hotel’s Scottish Steakhouse restaurant. Adults can also enjoy the burger deal for only £12.50 each.

The event will take place at 10am on the 26th of July, with the first hour encompassing the magical transformation and photo-shoot, and the second hour forming the lesson. This will then be followed by lunch in the restaurant.

Brett Ingle, hotel manager, said: “This is a really exciting event that we’ve got going on in the health club. It’ll be a fun day out for the family and we are excited to welcome Mermaids Scotland to the Inchyra.”

Chief Mermaid Lindsey said: “Down in the sea, life is the bubbles and it’s exciting to teach young mer-people our mer-folk ways. All of our mermaid instructors are qualified swim teachers so you’ll be in good fins.”
