A BODY has been recovered from the River Forth at Stirling today following what appears to have been a “tragic accident”.

Police confirmed that the body of a man was recovered from the water on Thursday, June 11.

It comes following reports that a 21-year-old had fallen into the Forth near Bridgehaugh Road in the early hours of Saturday, June 6.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of Prajwal Pandharinath Guhagarkar has been informed.

Chief Inspector Gill Marshall, area commander for Stirling, said: “Prajwal was reported to have fallen into the River Forth near Bridgehaugh Road, Stirling, in the early hours of Saturday, June 6, in what appears to have been a tragic accident and we have been utilising extensive resources as part of our search since then.

"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and we continue to offer support to Prajwal's family.

“As is the case with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

As reported earlier, officers from Police Scotland's Air Unit also deployed drones in the area as they were called in to assist on Tuesday, June 9.
