The BBC is set to air Lily Savage’s Blankety Blank this weekend after popular presenter, comedian, activist and drag artist Paul O'Grady died unexpectedly this week.

The comic was known for his iconic drag persona Lily Savage who left a positive mark on British TV.

On Tuesday (March 28) Paul's partner Andre Portasio announced the sad news, saying: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening."

He added: "He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."

ITV, Boom Radio and BBC pay tribute to Paul O'Grady amid passing

To mark Paul O'Grady's passing, a number of broadcasters have announced the airing of various programmes featuring the star.

Recently, ITV confirmed that the new series of Paul O'Grady's For The Love Of Dogs would air next month to commemorate his last TV appearance with his last radio show airing on Easter Sunday.

With this, the BBC has announced that it will also air classic episodes of Blankety Blank featuring Liley Savage.

The episodes will show Paul O'Grady dressed as his drag queen persona along with guests  Rebecca Callard, Sophie Lawrence, Davina McCall, Sir Ian McKellen, Gray O’Brien and Dale Winton.
