ARC ARRIVAL on the verge of unveiling their debut EP after intense production over lockdown.

The three-piece metal band used the enforced break earlier this year to knuckle down with the recording and mixing process for C.H.A.O.S.

Earlier this month, the band unleashed the lead single from the EP in the form of Count Havoc Among Our Sins – a brutal track punctuated by meaty riffs, intense vocals and sickening pinched harmonics.

Individual parts were recorded remotely by each member before final homemade mixing.

Clackmannanshire native Greg Dick, the band's vocalist, says they were already working on an EP before the pandemic took hold – meaning they had a choice of waiting to complete it after lockdown or starting again from home.

He tells The Weekender: "I'm pretty excited about the release of our EP because it was all DIY. We did everything from home.

"The amount of hours we put into it during the pandemic, after all the phone calls and video calls, it gives it a special meaning."

He adds: "Instead of us waiting for lockdown to be lifted, we decided to do another EP from scratch which included writing three brand new songs to put on this EP.

"We've had great feedback so far about the single; I can't wait to show the world the rest of the EP."

Guitarist Mag Kiemer, who also mixed and mastered C.H.A.O.S., added: "The waiting period for this to be released is excruciating as I feel we all know how good this is and we just want people to hear it already. I am very much looking forward to everyone hearing what we have been working on."

The band have been encouraged by the early reception and they hope that trend continues with the official release this week.

Drummer Marc McGuire, who lives in Muckhart, says: "For me, everything about it has been a win; people's reactions to it have been nothing but positive and so amazing.

"I'm proud of the other two more than anything – without them, the EP would not be as amazing as it is.

"What I would love people to take away from this is that we are all human and we all make mistakes. Just make sure you are treating people well."

Not being able to launch the EP with a show or tour is a bitter pill for the band.

However, the added time away has given them some time to work on new material and they aim to hit the ground running in 2021.

Dick continues: "We hope that next year we can perform for people and show them the energy we put into this EP live.

"We are an energetic band live and I sure would love to go into the crowd and make mosh pits, but sadly, right now we can't do that. It's all just a waiting game for when the live music can start back up.

"We are already in the process of writing for future releases and have a plan for next year for what we are wanting to do for new releases."

Drummer McGuire adds: "We all hope desperately for gigs soon because we are all just stuck only watching our lives go past without having each other to go through our achievement with – which I think sucks the most."

The C.H.A.O.S. EP will be available from Friday, October 30.
