THE LUTRAS end the year on a high note with the release of their charity Christmas single Give It Up For Christmas.

The track, released across all major platforms today, was recorded remotely at various venues across the country.

It also comes complete with all the hallmarks of a festive classic: sleigh bells, horns and a positive message.

The Lutras have rallied the troops, culminating in more than 40 artists collaborating on the project, including Carly Connor and Edinburgh’s Phoenix Choir.

With a focus on community spirit, all proceeds will be split between Music Venues Trust #saveourvenues campaign and Shelter.

A statement from the band said: “Like the rest of the world, 2020 hasn’t been kind to us. It started off with so much purpose; big plans centred around tours, festivals and studio time. Of course, that all came crashing down with the coronavirus.

"Give It Up For Christmas gave us some hope and a focus to recalibrate our own mental health. Hopefully, lots of other people can take joy from the record too.

"But it’s not just about Christmas - people are losing their jobs, people are homeless, honest businesses are closing for good - this song is about supporting those that need it the most.”

In support of the release, The Lutras are fundraising through an exclusive stripped-back set for their followers on Facebook and Instagram.

This event goes live from 7pm at Lovers Lane Studios on Sunday, December 20.
