THE Scottish music scene will take centre stage for a special edition of the Dan Potter Happy Hour listening party later this month.

Each of the tracks nominated for The Weekender's Song of the Year Award will be featured, with artists invited to tweet under #DPHappyHour to give listeners some insight into the origins of the song.

The listening party has been a positive addition to Thursday's for music fans in the UK, with the idea launched to bring a little joy throughout lockdown.

Some of the best emerging acts around the UK have already been showcased, with Scottish bands featuring heavily in the past.

Indeed, Matt Hickman from Brownbear played host one evening earlier in lockdown with talent from north of the border given the platform to reach audiences all over the UK.

The Weekender's Song of the Year edition will take place on Thursday, December 17, from 8pm.

Dan said: "I’m delighted to be involved in The Weekender's Song of the Year Award and I’m fully aware of the huge amount of talent that exists in Scotland.

"Earlier this year I co-hosted a listening party dedicated to Scottish music alongside Brownbear. I think the #DPhappyhour listeners are going to be in for a treat."

Iain Smith, editor of The Weekender, added: "A big shout out to Dan for having the nominated bands on the happy hour - the shortlist is pretty phenomenal and should make for a tremendous playlist for everyone to sink their teeth into.

"I'm looking forward to hearing some of the stories behind these tracks and I'm sure those who will be hearing the songs for the first time will be blown away.

"It should be a real positive experience and I'd encourage everyone to grab a few refreshments, tune in and get involved in the Dan Potter Happy Hour."
