THE DUNTS have announced a final single release of 2020 with Individuation.

Out tomorrow via 7 West Music, the tune bridges the gap between the band's previous effort back in April.

A little bit of added "news" was also teased ahead of the release.

A statement on the band's Facebook page said: "And we’re back. We’ve been very, VERY quiet since April, but we couldn’t leave you all hanging without some new music before this s****r of a year is over."

It added: "It’s a wee nugget of optimism in these strange and dreary times, and we will have more news to share with you all soon."

Individuation will be available on Friday, December 11.

In explaining how the track came together, Colin McGachy - one half of the band's guitar-vocal duo - said: “Individuation is a counter to what we’re all feeling right now.

"It comes from trying to help yourself and kinda turned out as a kinda-self help thing for me, I had to will myself to feel better. It was written before Covid; I was reading through all these psychological books, trying to put these things into practice.

You don’t even really need to know what ‘Individuation’ is specifically but this might relate to someone who feels like their plans, their dreams have been derailed this year.

"We wanted to try and make something that had this positive energy to it.”

Rab Smith, the band's other guitarist and singer, added: “When the opportunity to test out the new studio came, that’s when we thought about releasing something before the end of the year.”

“It would be easy to completely let everything that’s happened this year bury you. Individuation is a message to say ‘Don’t let this ruin you. Focus on what you can control... if you can't, don’t sweat it and keep going'.”
