KRYTICAL MASS is set to release their latest track UNYC0RN later this month.

The Dunfermline artist, also known as Sandy Power, will unveil the new tune on Friday, January 25.

The release comes after the critically lauded debut The Future Sound of KDY, an homage to the sounds of Power's youth in Kirkcaldy, in October last year.

Initially released on the Tonic Note Records Blame it on the Bucky 3 compilation, a double album featuring some of the best synth-based artists from around Scotland, KRYTICAL MASS now releases this second effort as a stand-alone single. The single was mastered by Tonic Note’s Dave Maitland.

UNYC0RN sees KRYTICAL MASS take a deliberately darker avenue after the mellow breaks used on The Future Sound of KDY.

The music contains an eerie sample of a musical toy unicorn keyring, sourced from Power’s day job working at an historic monument situated on an island in the River Forth, which lends the track its name, as well as using multiple layers of drums, percussion and synthesisers to create its dense, building cacophony.

The single artwork has been created by Jade Wotherspoon, who painted, photographed and edited the background image, which was commissioned by KRYTICAL MASS.

UNYC0RN will be released on January 25, with pre-sale available now, on all major digital stores and streaming sites. The track will also be put up on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis, giving fans a chance to donate to the artist what they can manage.
